Sacrilegious Schmacrilegious

Wal-Mart has cornered the market on Jesus... well, talking toy Jesus anyway. I saw this story from Phoenix, Arizona on CNN and it made me laugh. (If the link and video are still live, I encourage you to watch it.)
They are now selling a "foot-long" talking Jesus doll, not unlike something you'd see at kitsch retailer, Archie McPhee, but they are dead serious.
"The battery-powered, button-activated doll is able to recite a handful of different bible verses and the story of Jesus feeding the multitudes with five loaves and two fish. It also comes with a booklet giving parents tips on how to shape a child's faith."
They are selling out, er, selling the Lord for $14.95, and I tell you, brave souls, if I could get my hands on one I would... but I can't go into Wal-Mart, it makes my skin burn like a vampire in Church. And, it's only available in select locations where other religious items, "like Bibles," are popular. So I'm guessing the fruits of a search near me would be for naught. If I'm wrong about that, I'm not sure I want to know. But I do covet a plastic talking Jesus.
"Other shoppers said it trivializes religion. They also believe children will handle the Jesus doll much like they do with secular mass-merchandised action-figures, which they don't feel is appropriate."
You're damn right they will. Who wouldn't? If I had one he'd be smiting my enemies and healing my broken toys all day long.
Can you imagine what's going to happen to the first kid who brings his plastic talking Jesus to public school? Poor bastard.
That so-called Christians have long disregarded their own third commandment ("You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.") in churches, stores and dangling around the necks of more than one naughty Catholic schoolgirl, amuses me to no end. (As does the disregard the faithful seem to have for all tier other rules.)
This was too funny not to post.
