The Cory Q Sandwich
written by: Cory Q
According to my wife, I invented a new sandwich. I didn't think this could be the case, but I have yet to come across it any where on a menu or anyone else who professes to make such a lunch time concoction, so I guess it will now bear my moniker.
Here is how to make a Cory Q Sandwich!
Needed are the following ingredients:
2 pieces of white bread.
2 pieces of American cheese.
Butter.
12 pieces (minimum) deli sliced hard salami.
A toaster oven.
First, take the cheese out of the fridge and let it get to room temperature.
Second, take 12 to 15 deli sliced (that means thinly sliced) pieces of salami and put them on a plate. Microwave the meat for about 45 seconds, or long enough so they are hot but not curled up and burned. A major key to getting the Cory Q right is temperature of meat and cheese. Tepid cheese and warm meat works the best.
Third, butter only one side of each piece of bread.
Fourth, assemble the sandwich sides buy putting the non-buttered side of the first piece of bread down, then a piece of cheese on the buttered side, and 6 pieces of the warmed up salami on top of the cheese. Put both sides of the sandwich in the toaster over next to each other.
Fifth, take the two halves of the Cory Q and put it in the toaster oven. This part is more discretionary as to how dark you like the bread toasted. I think it tastes best lightly toasted. If you have buttered both sides of the bread, this is where you will notice how poorly it turns out and how difficult it is to extract from the toaster oven. The salami will burn on the edges if it is in the toaster oven too long.
Sixth, take the the two havles of the sandwich from the toaster oven. Sprinkle both sides with some Parmesan cheese (like you would put on spaghetti or pizza). Then put the two halves together, meat to meat.
Seventh and last, take the hot Cory Q and put it in your mouth and enjoy!
